We’re at Last Call time for our fabulous Peru trip! And I don’t want you to miss out.

The fact that this trip includes Machu Picchu for three days has become even more important because of changes they’ve initiated the past few years.
Previously, your ticket allowed you to be at Machu Picchu all day. Now, the Peruvian government has changed it so that you are there in the morning or the afternoon, you are not allowed to be there all day.
On this tour, the first day you will be in Machu Picchu for the afternoon. The next day, everyone will get up at dawn to be there at 6 am in order to do a sunrise ceremony on the Solstice. The next day everyone will get up as early as possible to spend the entire morning there. We want everyone to be able to luxuriate in their experience of Machu Picchu.

I have always loved this quote written by Marianne Williams in her book, “A Return to Love.” It’s interesting, the quote is very often attributed to Nelson Mandela, as he used the quote in his inaugural address (and attributed it to Marianne), but the confusion persists.
Most people do give in to their doubts about themselves, their low self-esteem, etc. But what if what she is saying is true? What if your deepest fear is that weird ego thing that says:
“Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?”
Most people think of the ego as this thing that is super self-centered, self-aggrandizing, as in, “He has such a huge ego.” But I’ve always defined the ego as the small self that wants to keep you small. And think about it, isn’t that what’s really going on?
So here’s the good news – what if this is true? What if the truth is that you truly are:
Brilliant
Gorgeous
Talented
Fabulous?
As she goes on to say – “You are a child of God.”
I personally believe the adage that “God doesn’t make junk.” That also means that we are all “of the same cloth,” that no one is any better or any worse than another as we are all the physical instantiation of Source (or God or Universe or Great Spirit or…) as we are all on our Journey back to Source, back to the Oneness of all Creation.
So that makes it official – You are amazing, wonderful, loveable, and deserving just by virtue of the fact that you are alive.
The last part of the quote doesn’t always get all the attention I think it deserves:
You have a birthright to be all that you can be. I believe you have an obligation to liberate yourself from your own fear so that you aren’t playing small, so that you can shine your light and be of service to the world.
My husband, Richard, has core wounds from his childhood where his father and his grandmother really did a number on him around all this. There was one incident where 5-year-old Richard was trying to be helpful and his father disdainfully said to another adult involved in the situation, “Children should be seen and not heard.” It totally deflated him.
You wouldn’t think that something like that would have such a huge impact on a child — I mean, his father wasn’t beating him or anything like that, but it affected Richard for years, making him doubt himself and “shut up.”
His grandmother told him at a young age, “Don’t show anyone who you are or they’ll get you.” How scary is that? Richard wasn’t sure who “they” were and he wasn’t sure exactly how “they” would “get him,” but the effect was there — making him afraid and getting him to shut up and definitely getting him to cover his light.
Richard’s father and grandmother loved him and they didn’t want to hurt him, but what a chilling effect all this had on him. As I said, it took years (and lots of sessions) to break through all of that.
And how sad is that? That poor little kid had his light dimmed for a long time. And I bet a bunch of you out there had some sort of experience like that during your childhood which left you feeling deflated and unworthy.
The good news is, you don’t need to take that on anymore. As I said, I believe you have a birthright and a responsibility to let your light shine.
How do you do that? Most people need help with that. They need to shed those doubts and fears that are holding them back from finding and living their purpose and their best life.

Sedona is one of the most beautiful places on the planet (a few years ago, USA Today named Sedona “The most beautiful place to visit in the US”). But beyond its beauty, Sedona is known throughout the world for its vortex energy. What is a Vortex? A vortex is believed to be a special spot on the planet where higher dimensional energies are concentrated to such an extent that it can be felt by humans. These energies enhance the flow of energy (life force) in our own bodies – what the Chinese call “chi,” or the Hindus call “prana.”
Vortexes (or vortices if you want to be absolutely proper about it, but here in Sedona we all pretty much say “vortexes”) are found at sacred sites throughout the world – the Great Pyramid in Egypt, Machu Picchu in Peru, Bali, Stonehenge, etc. Many people believe that the vortex energies and the energy that flows through our subtle bodies is basically the same – that it is an Electro-magnetic energy.
In my experience, when you delve into definitions and explanations of what a vortex is, it seems to depend on who you’re talking to or what book you’re reading. If you speak with some scientists, they will tell you that this is electro-magnetic energy that can be measured, but that it is behaving in ways that are unusual and can’t be explained. If you speak with the indigenous peoples, e.g., the Native Americans here in Sedona or the Aborigines in Australia (because Ayers Rock (Uluru) is another one), they will tell you that these are places around the Earth where you can literally feel the energy of the Earth if you will take the time to do it.
Here is my own personal belief – after living in Sedona since the turn of the century and having traveled many times to Egypt, Bali and Peru, and experiencing those energies – I believe these are places around the world where the God energy (or the energy of the Universe or of All That Is, or whatever you want to call it) literally comes onto the planet and is brought onto the planet. That’s why these places are so incredible. The Native Americans believe that the energy of Sedona is energy that can be used for Transformation. And I believe that’s why such amazing transformations can happen here in such a short period of time.
In addition, I believe the veils to other dimensions are thinner in Sedona. Our connection to All That Is is amplified and enhanced here. Bashar, the internationally recognized spiritual teacher, says this about Sedona: “Sedona is a powerful, transformational vortex unparalleled in its own way, unique in its own way, that allows for communication and connection to multiple dimensions of reality on your world.” Why should you care about the Vortex Energy? Because if you’re looking for Transformation, Sedona is the place to get it. The energy is stronger here, it is the energy of transformation, the veils to other dimensions are thinner (so it’s easier to access other dimensions here) and whatever you bring here is Magnified and intensified. This is one of the reasons why people have such huge transformations here in such a short period of time. The energies of Sedona are unique – not available anywhere else on the planet. Richard talks about why he loves the Peru and Machu Picchu trip JUNE 17 – 30
Earlier this week, over breakfast, I was saying to my husband, Richard, “I need to think of something new to say about the Peru trip,” and he immediately replied, “Do you want me to write something?” And I immediately said, ”Yes!” He asked, “short or long?” and I said “short”… and I love what he wrote:
“One of the wonderful things about being married to Debra is I’ve been able to go on these amazing trips to Egypt and Peru. It’s so interesting, I never felt any connections prior to going to Peru and Machu Picchu, but after one trip (I’ve been on four now) it feels like ‘home.’
A large part of it is our Peruvian shaman and guide, the wonderful Jorge Luis Delgado, and the way he weaves the Peruvian spiritual and cultural teachings throughout the trip. He taught us about the Condor, the Puma and the Snake as part of the sacred world in Peru. The places we visited were amazing in and of themselves, but with Jorge, they seemed to come alive to me in a deep way. The many practices that Jorge taught us really made the trip a deep and impactful experience. There is just something about being in the sacred places of Peru that have really opened me up to this wonderful place.
And it feels like home to me now.
And then there are just so many special things that we do. Staying with a local family on the island of Amantani, where it’s just so sweet and pure. Going to the floating islands of Uros. The different ceremonies that we do that are so powerful. Connecting with the wonderful people who come on this trip is so much fun.
It’s not just a trip, it’s the depth of it, and the spirituality.”

You probably already know all the obvious reasons why not to get a divorce. Divorce is simply devastating in so many ways – it’s devastating for the children, emotionally and psychologically. It’s devastating for the people going through the divorce, both emotionally and psychologically.
It’s also devastating financially. Studies show that both parties lose so much financially when they get a divorce, and that’s especially true for women. Just the cost of a divorce is devastating – studies based on census figures show that the cost of the average divorce in the U.S. is a mind blowing $53,000.
I’m going talk with you today about some things about divorce that you maybe haven’t thought about before.
The first one is: Things are just never the same.
Everyone’s life just gets completely up-ended when a divorce happens. Children suddenly have two homes rather than one home, and it usually doesn’t ever really feel like home again.
The worst is things like holidays. The time gets split up, there’s usually hard feelings on both sides, and sometimes there’s lots of fighting and arguing.
The kids are never with their parents again. They’re always going to be with dad and this other person that they will probably never feel as completely close to as they do with their mother. Ditto for their mother’s boyfriend or new husband. It’s just never going to feel the same again.
The next is: You may die sooner.
A study published in The Journal of Health and Social Behavior found that divorced or widowed people have 20% more chronic health conditions (such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer) than people who are married. Loneliness can be a killer and I believe it makes you age faster.
And: You’re probably going to end up with another person with the same or similar problems. In the twenty years that I was doing divorces, it was amazing to me as I looked back to realize the number of people for whom I did 3 divorces. And the even more amazing thing, was that what I saw was that these people kept marrying the same person over and over again, they just had a different name.
Because the real problem is at the heart of this – we are connecting with people because of the Soul Lessons they bring to us. Our partners are a mirror for us and particularly, for our Woundings. We bring people into our lives to heal our wounds. We don’t know that consciously, but I believe this with all my heart. If we’re insecure, if we think we’re not worthy of love, we’ll bring someone in who won’t love us completely. If we don’t trust ourselves, we’ll bring in someone we can’t trust. Those wounds will keep showing up until they’re healed.
I have seen that over and over again, both in my law practice and in my work with Sedona Soul Adventures. We just had a couple here last year and this was completely true for them. They had both been married and divorced before, and they were ready to get divorced again. When they came to us they both said “I can’t believe it, I’ve married someone who’s exactly like my ex.”
We dug deeper and discovered that for the husband, he had parents who were never satisfied with him, he always felt like he wasn’t enough. After a few years with his first wife, he felt unloved and unhappy because she was always complaining and telling him he wasn’t good enough in all kinds of different ways – as a person, as a provider, as a father. When he met his second wife she seemed to be head over heels in love with him, but again, within a few years, the same kind of problems were coming up. For different reasons, but he felt again as though he wasn’t enough.
For the wife, it showed up a little differently. From the time she was a little girl, she put up what she called a “False Front” because she thought being who she was wouldn’t be good enough. She had actually been married twice before and each time it was her belief that once her husbands really got to know the “real” her, that the marriage ended.
So both of them had the issues of “I’m not enough” and “I’m not loveable.”
We did separate sessions with them of clearing out that gunk and filling that hole of “I’m not enough.” After this work, they both reported feeling like they loved themselves for the first time in their lives. With that feeling of self love, they literally saw the other person with different eyes. They both had this huge compassion for each other because they realized for the first time, that they both had the same issue, it was just showing up in a different way for each of them. They realized how much they truly loved each other. We sent them home with new tools and I just heard from them recently. It’s been a year and they both feel like their spouse is their biggest cheerleader. She said to me, “I didn’t realize that because I didn’t truly love myself, I really had no love to give to someone else. I’m so glad we didn’t get a divorce, I would have just kept doing this over and over.”
If you are thinking about getting a divorce, I literally want to beg you to reconsider it one more time. Think about all the reasons we’ve talked about and then really ask yourself, “How is my partner being my mirror?” If there is something you really can’t stand about your partner, is there any of that in you? If you feel like you’re not loved, do you truly love yourself?
Are there some things you can do to save your marriage? If so, for the sake of your children, for the sake of your family, but mostly for the sake of you, please think about it one more time.

Special moments in Machu Picchu and Peru (Join us June 17-30)
I was flipping through all the photos I have from doing the Peru trip for over 14 years (!) and I was trying to find an especially impressive photo of Machu Picchu. Instead, I just kept coming across different photos of people having special moments on our trips over the years and I found myself saying things like, “Oh, that was so great!” or, “There’s Martina, I love her so much” and, “Look at that beautiful wedding.” We’ve had so many special moments and that’s what happens on these trips — incredible transformations happen and then you have these times when these sweet things happen that you think about years later.
A few years ago we had two people from Canada who contacted me and asked if they could get married while we were in Peru. At first I thought it would be a daunting task, but everyone in Jorge’s office was so excited, gracious and helpful. Here they are kissing at Machu Picchu…
And here’s a photo of everyone from our group at their wedding. They were married right on the shores of Lake Titicaca. It was so sweet and so special, one of my sweetest memories from all the years I’ve gone to Peru.
And here’s Martina connecting with one of the llamas that are at Machu Picchu. They roam all over the place, but it’s special to have them come up to you and really connect, it’s so soulful.
This is one of my favorite moments, where I captured Pamela meditating at Lake Titicaca. Can you just feel the gentle energy emanating from her? You can almost see it. Peaceful, calm and gentle, that’s what happens when we allow these energies to come in.
These special moments are so wonderful and they really demonstrate the specialness of the trip. Being in the energies of these amazing places, really connecting in, connecting with other like-minded seekers, it’s the journey of a lifetime.

It’s almost the end of our incredible Return to Egypt trip and it’s been absolutely amazing.
As usual, the sites are spectacular, everyone keeps saying they had no idea it would be this amazing, the food is fantastic, our new Nile Cruise ship was fabulous, the weather has been perfect, and everyone fell in love with each other within 48 yours.
So I wanted to give you a little taste with a bunch of photographs.
This is our group on the first day at Pyramids.
We rode camels up to the Sphinx and it’s always so much fun.
Here are David and Sherry, our friends from Sedona, celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary on the trip. We had 2 anniversaries and one birthday, all with cake!
And of course, going to the Egyptian oils shops – so amazing!
Here we are at the Steppe Pyramid — this just opened on the inside last year. It is unbelievable that since coming here for the first time in 1983, I can finally go inside!
Going to the Egyptian Museum and seeing the treasures of King Tut is just so incredible. And next year, the new museum should be open – I can’t wait!
At the fabulous Temple of Hatsepshut, one of the very few female Pharaohs of Egypt (not a queen, a Pharaoh!).
This spectacular Hathor Goddess is from the Hatsephut temple.
Then on to Abydos, it’s so beautiful and so powerful.
And at Abydos, we see the Osirion where the famed Flower of Life is located. It’s not painted in or sculpted. Lasers?
Doing a balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings is so much fun.
This obelisk was built by Hatsepshut at Karnak.
Horus is one of the gods of protection – this is his beautiful temple at Edfu.
Last night we all dressed up in galabayas for Egyptian night.
This morning, the spectacular Temple of Isis, always a favorite.

Today as you read this, we will be going into the Great Pyramid for our 2 hours of private time just for our group. We’ll do special meditations and connect with this amazing energy. Every year it’s different, so I can’t wait to see what’s in store for this year.

How is it possible that it’s been a year since I was here last and how is it possible that even though this is my 21st trip to Egypt (!), it’s still new and amazing?
But that’s the nature of this place. Everything we’re seeing is thousands and thousands of years old, but the mysteries are still fresh.
Mysteries such as: Who built the Pyramids? How did they get these huge stones to this place (some of which weigh over 2 tons) when they know they came from Aswan, which is an 8 hour train ride away? And how did they cut the stones with such laser-like precision that they fit together perfectly with no mortar?
Riding camels to the Pyramids is always so much fun – they’re so sweet. And of course it’s so wonderful to be here with my beloved Richard. This is his fifth trip to Egypt and he’s become as fascinated as I am with all things Egyptian! What a wonderful thing to have in common.
And of course no trip to Egypt is complete without going to the Egyptian Museum, it’s so incredible, including the treasures of King Tut. And next year, the new Grand Egyptian Museum is scheduled to open in October (it was delayed because of Covid). I’m so excited about that for next year.
Tonight we watched the amazing Sound and Light show at the Pyramids and Sphinx. It’s so dramatic, it’s reminiscent of The Ten Commandments. I love this photo that Richard shot – the Sphinx just looks otherworldly.
One of the best parts for me is being with this amazing group of people. We are all different ages, races, sexes, and nationalities, but with a commonality of being fascinated by this amazing place. It’s so much fun to experience this with other adventurers.
And as usual, the Egyptian people are so warm and welcoming. They always ask, “Where are you from?” and when I say “America,” they always reply with a similar response – “We love Americans!”

On this special day, I want to tell you about something I’ve come to believe, just in the past year, about relationships. It’s something that seems like I should have known this all along and when you hear it, you’re probably going to say something like, “Well, of course, Debra, everybody knows that.”
But just stay with me for a moment because I think you might be surprised to find out that what I think the #1 thing that you either have or don’t have in your relationship, that either makes it or breaks it and that is…
Are you nurturing each other? Does your beloved nurture you? And are you nurturing your beloved?
It seems like a simple question, but it’s not at all. Because it’s about a way of being. It’s a decision you’re making, in every moment.
Do you truly want to nurture your beloved?
Do you want to nurture them in the way they want to be nurtured?
Or are you constantly picking at them, criticizing them and thinking nasty thoughts about them?
As most of you know, I was a divorce attorney for over 20 years and now I’ve done couples work in Sedona for almost 20 years. It appears to me that relationships are either mainly in the “I love you” zone or the “You drive me crazy” zone. And it seems like once you’ve rounded the corner into the “you drive me crazy” zone, there’s not much going back unless you really do something about it.
There are basic problems that seem to show up a lot when the nurturing factor isn’t there. And in my experience, there are things that seem unique to women and unique to men. This is also borne out in John Grey’s Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus series of books (so please don’t write me that I’m stereotyping — I’ve watched this for almost 40 years!).
If you’re a woman, do you:
Complain a lot to your partner?
Complain about your partner to other people?
Have you taken everything over because he won’t do the stuff you want him to do, in the way you want him to do it?
If you’re a man:
Are you engaging emotionally with your partner?
Are you able to just sit and listen to your partner or do you always give advice, even when it’s not asked for?
Are there times when you simply tune your partner out?
These are all danger signs. Big signals telling you, “STOP! You’ve got to do something here.”
If you’re a woman, stop complaining and stop doing everything because he’s not doing it right.
If you’re a man, start listening and start really engaging emotionally with her.
The biggest thing, is that you both have to make this basic decision: “I love this person and I want to nurture them.”
So many books and articles say that communication is the most important thing in a relationship and of course, communication is extremely important, but think about it…
Deciding to truly nurture your partner is at another layer below communication and everything else. If you are in nurturing mode, your communication will always be wonderful, the way you treat them will always be wonderful, and you’ll be having the perfect amount of sex and time together, because it will be based on each of you nurturing the other.
If you’re finding that you’re out of the nurturing zone, you can recognize that and you can do something about it. You literally can shift everything around by making this simple decision:
I want to nurture this person and I’m going to figure out how to do that.
It takes
Willingness
Dropping your resentments about what’s happened in the past
Coming back into loving connection
Now I know, doing these things is easier said than done. Letting go of past resentments is usually pretty difficult for both parties and that’s usually what’s holding one or both of you back from really getting into and staying in the nurturing zone.
Or maybe you don’t have clarity about what you truly want. It’s hard to go out of your way to do something for the other person when you’re maybe not 100% sure that you want to be with them.

This past week an amazing person crossed over to the other side – Dr. Hew Lin, (also known by his Kahuna name of Ihaleakala) the man who brought the ancient Kahuna practice of Ho’oponopono to the world.
He was 83 years old. I will always remember him wearing his baseball caps.
He touched my life in so many ways.
I was honored to do a 5-day Intensive with him many years ago and it was one of the most important teachings I ever received. During that time, we discovered that we both had gone to the University of Iowa and we talked about what a wonderful place Iowa City is (although the cold winters were hard on this native Hawaiian).
Dr. Hew Lin touched so many lives with his work. Ho’oponopono is an ancient technique for forgiveness, and it is one of the most powerful processes I’ve ever used. It has come to us through the Hawaiian spiritual masters, the Kahunas.
The word “ho’o” means “cause” in Hawaiian, while “ponopono” means “perfection.” The term “ho’oponopono” can be translated as “correct a mistake” or “make it right.”
The process is so deceptively simple – you think about a particular situation and say over and over again:
I’m sorry
Please forgive me
I love you
Thank you
