I love Bulletproof Coffee. It tastes great, it has lots of fat in it (butter from grass-fed cows) and lots of energy. I also really like David Asprey, who is the man behind Bulletproof Coffee. He’s a very successful Silicon Valley entrepreneur, who’s done all kinds of what he calls, “Biohacks,” to make his life better — he used to weigh 300 pounds (now he’s 180), he’s into meditation and I very much love his message about living the most wonderful life possible.
So I received this graphic from one of his postings this week and I love it, because it’s so true. I hope you won’t be offended by this (I put in the * to help with that), but I think the message is so powerful.

Even if you don’t like the word, isn’t this what all of us want?
To be truly at peace.
To be truly in touch with that highest part of yourself.
So that no matter what anyone says or does, it doesn’t bother you.
And no matter what happens, there is no negativity that can even touch you.
Do you feel buffeted by life? That you’re at the mercy of your boss, your mate, your children, the pandemic, etc., etc.?
Or do you feel grounded, peaceful, and like you can handle anything that comes at you?
Think about how you move through your day. Does every little thing set you off — getting cut off in traffic, long line at Starbucks, too much work to do, problems with your mate, children, co-workers or friends?
Or even worse, do you feel like your life is passing you by? Do you have a lot of regrets?
Or are you living a life of purpose and accomplishing all that you want, no matter what that is?
Most people that I see seem to think that they are at the mercy of forces outside of themselves, and for some people those feelings have been made worse by the pandemic. They feel that they don’t have any control over their lives and they “can’t help it” when they react negatively and feel hopeless.

It really all comes down to a decision — are you going to live life or let life live you? What I mean by that is, are you going to be the one deciding how your life is going to be or are you going to allow yourself to be buffeted around by everything that happens?
When we are living our lives in connection on all the levels — physical, mental, emotional, spiritual — we are centered and balanced. We’re like a tree with very deep roots. We’ll feel the wind when it blows every day, but it just moves our branches around in a beautiful dance.
When you’re living your life in connection, you have the feeling and the knowing that nobody can mess with you, because you’re centered and grounded. It’s a pretty wonderful feeling.

The sad truth is, most people are living their lives in some level of disconnection – physical, mental, emotional, spiritual.
Things that have happened to us throughout our lives have created thoughts, beliefs, patterns, and energetic blocks (what I call “gunk”) that are holding us back and making it impossible for us to move forward. That’s why we have this feeling that we’re slogging through life.
The question is, how do you get to that place?
Well, it’s about finding, releasing, and moving through the thoughts, beliefs, patterns, wounds, and energetic blocks (the “gunk”) that is causing the trouble, moving back into connection, and then staying there. And, of course, that’s exactly what happens with a Sedona Soul Adventure.

Today, I suddenly found this newsletter that was marking our 10 year anniversary back in 2012 (gosh that feels so long ago!) and it gave me goosebumps (you’ll understand that even more completely at the end), so I had to share it with you. It’s so amazing to think now it’s been 19 years!

When I first came to Sedona in January of 1999, I had no idea of everything that was in store for me and the thousands of people who would come to connect with us.
In looking back, I’ve thought about some of the most amazing, poignant, and incredible things that have happened over the years. I’ve asked some of our fabulous past clients for permission to share their stories. And so many people have been so generous.
The first one is from Susan Perkins and it’s so beautiful… Here it is…
“To all who are willing and open to living the best life possible…
My name is Susan Perkins and this is my miracle. Last year, I suffered a terrible loss. My relationship of seven years broke apart. It was more than just a relationship because we were best friends, business partners, and of course, we owned our home together. That being said, the breakup was devastating because I lost everything at once. I felt my life had been pulled out from underneath me. I went into a full-blown depression. I didn’t know that depression could be so paralyzing and my only thoughts were that of suicide because I could not function. I literally felt paralyzed.
The phone rang and it was my dearest friend of 35 years. She heard my voice and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” I said in a weak pathetic tone.
She asked again “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” I sighed.
She asked a third time, “What’s Wrong?”
“EVERYTHING!!!” I cried.
Immediately without the slightest hesitation, she said ” Oh My God, we have to get to Sedona! I am going to have someone call you now and do a meditation over the phone. Within the next five minutes, there was an angel from Arizona on the line meditating and sending me love in my time of crisis. After talking to Debra, I packed my bags and was on my way.
I have tears streaming down my face as I write this because Sedona Soul Adventures changed my life forever. We flew into Phoenix and drove up to Sedona at dusk. It was late when we checked into a very charming bed and breakfast. After a good night’s sleep, I woke up and looked out the window. I had never seen anything so beautiful as the red rocks of Sedona, Arizona. I remember thinking that it didn’t even look real. We met Debra on top of a vortex that overlooked all of Sedona. It was breathtaking. We sat down and Debra started a meditation, a prayer to the Universe for me. Tears were rolling down my eyes as I listened to her words. She looked over at me and said my third eye was opening. This was all new to me… vortexes, meditating, third eye, etc… Well, I just went with it and thank God I did.
Every session helped my heart and spirit to open up. During one of my clearing sessions, my life was totally transformed. I have told this story a thousand times and I get chill bumps every time I do! I was lying on the table with my eyes closed and an eye pillow over them when all of the sudden I started to see angels and explosions. The way I always describe it is like I was seeing the Big Bang happening. I didn’t know if this was a video on the ceiling or if it was in my head. I raised my hands to touch my eyes and the eye pillow was still over them. I was so excited. It was so beautiful. I kept repeating over and over in my head, “I don’t ever want this to stop… I don’t ever want this to stop… I don’t ever want this to stop.”
When the session was over and the eye pillow was removed, everything was different. Everything was lighter and brighter; I had a grin from ear to ear. I was walking on air!! I knew then that this was it. This was how we were supposed to feel; how we were supposed to live. I had goosebumps and tears of joy. I felt the purest most unconditional love I had ever felt in my life. I had no fear; I felt total forgiveness; Nothing upset me and I knew just what to do. The Universe was speaking to me through everything. I mean everything, the wind, the trees, the birds; everything was so alive! I couldn’t wait to get up at 6:00 am to see what miracles life would bring me next.
I had gone from suicidal thoughts and near-death to the top of the highest mountains, to the stars, to heaven. I was riding the wave high on life. It really was almost indescribable but let’s just say that my dear friend got me to Sedona Soul Adventures and it truly saved my life. I have never been the same since then.
Two weeks later a group of 24 Soul Adventurers from around the world left for Egypt. It was my great fortune to be able to join the group. I mean, is this a miracle or what? I went from near death to The Great Pyramids. It was out of my wildest dreams and I was having the time of my life! Floating down the Nile and exploring temples, standing next to the Sphinx, please someone pinch me! Ouch I am awake and I mean for the first time in my life I can say I am awake. This was the first time in my life that I was really conscious. Thank you, thank you, thank you Sedona Soul Adventures!!
I now work in the Healing Arts at an integrated wellness center. When you have an experience like that you want to share it with everyone! I could write a book about my experience but this is the condensed version. The story is not even slightly exaggerated as a matter of fact it is under exaggerated. I have been back to Sedona Soul Adventures four times and it is one of my dreams to live there someday!!!”

What a wonderful surprise this week to discover that we were named to the 11 Best Couples Retreats Around the World. Wow! That’s in the entire world!!
When I was reading the article, I was struck by one thing – the thing that makes us so completely different from all the other retreats that are out there. And that is the fact that we custom design each and every retreat for each couple who comes to us and you work in private one-on-one or two-on-one sessions with our Master Practitioners.
Why is the custom design so important? Because each couple is different and each person within the couple is different. The wounds, hurts, and blocks that brought each of you to where you are at this point, are completely different than what brought your partner here. I was noodling around in my computer earlier this week and found a questionnaire I had completed back in 2012. Wow – that seems so far away!
I had gone to a workshop in California that was a business workshop, not a spiritual workshop (oh the days when we could just jump on a plane and easily go to California and sit in a hotel conference room with a thousand other people and think nothing of it). I answered these 4 Questions that turned out to be highly spiritual, incredibly insightful, and tremendously helpful.
I was amazed to discover that everything I said I wanted in my answers had actually happened!
I think if you take 10 minutes to answer these questions, it will be tremendously profound for you.

1. What’s frustrating you the most right now?
Isn’t this a great question? It really gets to the heart of what’s eating you. I know for so many people who come to us, they feel like they’re at the end of their rope, some life situation is driving them crazy, or worse, they feel they are not living their best life or their relationship isn’t giving them all that they want. That’s got to be one of the most frustrating things in the world, to have this feeling that you are capable of living a happy, joyful, wonderful life, but you just don’t have the tools to do it. That’s exactly how I felt before I first came to Sedona.
2. What do you want to have happen this year?
Wow, doesn’t that just zero in on it? I love this question. It makes it so immediate. So what do you want to have happen this year? Wouldn’t it be great to have something really amazing and incredible happen? What would that be for you? You’ve still got 4 months left this year to make it happen, a lot can happen in 4 months.
3. What have you tried in the past that’s worked and what have you tried in the past that hasn’t worked?
This one really hits close to home for me because before I came to Sedona for the first time 21 years ago I had read every book, done so many group retreats, done so many workshops, done therapy, and nothing ever really seemed to help. It wasn’t until I was doing one-on-one private sessions that were focused completely on me with the Masters here in Sedona that I really got to the heart of what I needed.
4. What would it take for you to double your happiness during the next year?
I love this one so much because it takes out the complaining aspect of everything that’s wrong and puts it right into your lap. What would double your happiness during this next year? It’s especially fun to answer this question from the standpoint of really knowing that it can happen!
So what are the answers to these questions for you?
And of course, I loved these questions because they pointed out to me once again why a Sedona Soul Adventures retreat is so important. “Dead at 20, Buried at 80”
Have you heard this before? I read it somewhere a number of years ago and it really struck me.
What they’re talking about is that for so many people, at around 20 years old they decide to take a job because they need money and it’s not what they really wanted to do, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

They never thought that they would stay doing the same thing for the rest of their lives and then suddenly they found themselves married. And then the kids came and they needed the health insurance and the security of the job, and it just wasn’t practical to even think about doing something else.
And then suddenly they’re retired and getting social security… and next, they’re DEAD.
Sorry to be so depressing, but this turns out to be true for so many people. Their lives literally get buried by age 20 – meaning they’re not doing what excites them or makes them happy, they’re doing work for a paycheck and suddenly find themselves buried under the weight and responsibility of being an adult – and then they’re stuck for the rest of their lives.
They never give themselves permission to Stop and ask, “Is this what I really want to be doing with my precious life?”
This past year has had many difficulties but there’s been one thing that’s come out of it that we’ve seen that is very dramatic and wonderful. More and more people are asking themselves this question for the first time in their lives.
This past year has made many of us realize:
For most people, evaluating their lives like that leads to making some new, big decisions about their work and their relationships.
A lot of people don’t want to go back to the same old grind.
They want to feel like their life has purpose. And for many of us, that means doing work that is meaningful and really feeds our souls.
They want to live their life purpose or they want to find their life purpose and start living it.
I really relate to this because in my own life, I had so many fits and starts, and I also fell into the trap. I ended up being a divorce attorney for 20 years. Pretty much hating it the whole time.
I loved the part where I felt like I was helping my clients, but that only felt like about 10% of it. The rest was arguing with the other attorneys and the judges and trying to help people who were in a very unhappy part of their life.
Hating what you’re doing 90% of the time really sucks.
Even worse, I was on my spiritual path and reading lots of books about living a life of joy and happiness and I believed that somehow that was possible. I read books like “Do What You Love And The Money Will Follow,” but I could never make that work for me.
Everything changed for me when I came to Sedona for the first time in 1999. I was at one of the lowest points in my life and every part of my life was a mess. In one session my Higher Self came to me in a vision and said, “You either leave your law practice now, or you’re going to die like your mother did.” I was exactly the age my mother was when she got sick with cancer and died 5 years later. I could see that I was on the same trajectory as she had been – I was unhappy, frustrated and I felt totally stuck.
That started the journey that led to founding Sedona Soul Adventures three years later.
So I spent 20 years of my life doing work I hated. I’ve spent 19 years doing work I love. I can tell you, doing work you love makes all the difference. Especially because it affects every other part of your life – relationships, abundance, and just overall quality of life.
Every day I get to see people transform their lives and relationships. Just this past week a couple who came to us on the brink of divorce, left us happy and in love.
We always ask people to write a before and after at the end and the husband said, “Before my Soul Adventure I was angry, resentful, not trusting and blaming my wife. I was blaming her for my issues and waiting for her to fix them instead of fixing myself. After my Soul Adventure, I am grateful, feeling joy, feeling free, understanding my wife better and myself better, forgiving myself and peaceful.”
And his wife realized how she was blaming him and not feeling supported by him. By the end, she told us, “I value myself and realize I’m worth a lot. I really feel the support from my husband.” Wow!
I spent 20 years divorcing people, now I’ve spent 19 years helping them stay together – it’s so much better!

Last week my husband, Richard, took me out for a beautiful dinner to celebrate my Half-Birthday! My birthday is in January, so it got me thinking about how I’m doing on my Resolutions for the New Year that I made back then.
I have to admit that the biggest resolution I made has not come through at all. I got so busy and unfocused with other things that the big thing I had set for myself hasn’t been happening.
It’s the age-old problem with resolutions, isn’t it? If we don’t really incorporate them into our lives, they don’t happen.
So I don’t want you to get down on yourself, instead let’s revisit those resolutions or even better, do what I’m doing and make a decision to revamp what you want to accomplish for the rest of the year.
I’m including here my video on “How To Have A Kick-Ass New Year!” It’s very do-able and practical, and it might just be that extra oomph you need to really have something magical happen by the end of the year. Wouldn’t that be fantastic?
For me, I’ve reset my big goal and I’ll keep you posted on how that turns out! I already know that one of the things I need to do to help myself is to do a session with one of my Practitioners. It will be a session on Core Beliefs.
I can tell that I have some resistance to this really big goal and one of the ways I can tell that is that I’ve only taken a very small amount of action on this over the past 6 months. I think I must have some beliefs buried deep in there somewhere that I can’t do this, or I don’t deserve it or some other nonsense. I’m not sure what it is, but by doing this session we’ll uncover it, move it out and replace it with some empowering beliefs along the line of “I can do this!” or “I deserve this!”
I always love that exhilarated feeling.
If you have a big goal that’s not happening or you’re not feeling those feelings of exhilaration, joy and excitement in your life and relationship, maybe you need to do some sessions too.
