“I’m so unhappy, please tell me what to do” – Podcast with Former Oprah Producer and SSA Grad

The “Seeking Center” podcast is a wonderful podcast with lots of incredible information about spirituality and living your best life. It’s done by Robyn Miller Brecker, who was a producer for Oprah for over 10 years and Karen Loenser, who had her life changed a few years ago with a Sedona Soul Adventures retreat!

I was so thrilled and honored to be featured on their “Seeking Center” podcast and I have to say, we had a blast!

Seeking Center Podcast

The episode is titled, “The Adventure Your Soul Has Been Waiting For,” and as they say in their program notes:

Seeking Center Podcast Debra Stangl

“I’m so unhappy, please tell me what to do” – that was my prayer to God that started everything which led to the creation of Sedona Soul Adventures.

Karen also talked about how her Soul Adventure changed her life and I always love hearing that!

Listen to it here.

I hope you enjoy the podcast and if you want to have your life changed, give us a call.

How To Be Happy – Great Advice From A Billionaire SSA Grad

Greetings, all you beautiful souls seeking happiness!

Journey to Happy-2nd Edition

I’m absolutely thrilled to share some incredibly uplifting insights with you!

If you’ve followed me for very long, you know I’m all about happiness (heck, I even wrote a book about it — the #1 Bestseller, “The Journey To Happy — How Embracing The Concept That Nothing Is Wrong Can Transform Your Life”), so I know firsthand the magic of embracing happiness.

So you can imagine how blissfully happy it made me when Scooter Braun –the music producer extraordinaire behind stars like Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber — talked about his life-changing experience with Sedona Soul Adventures on the “The School of Greatness” podcast hosted by the wonderful Lewis Howes. And guess what? He couldn’t stop raving about how Sedona Soul Adventures helped him find true happiness!

Imagine how thrilling it was to hear him talk about us this way. We’ve had lots of celebrities here and of course, we can’t talk about them, because we hold everyone’s retreat in the strictest confidence. Scooter, a man who’s no stranger to personal growth, found something truly special during his Soul Adventure with us. Our spiritual retreats took him to new heights of bliss and fulfillment – now that’s something worth celebrating!

As you’ll hear if you listen to the podcast, he had done so much personal work before he did his Soul Adventure. But as he says on the podcast, his Soul Adventure took him to an entirely new level.

Scooter sold his company recently for one billion dollars and gave $50,000,000 away to friends and employees who helped him along the way. He had no legal obligation to do that, he felt it was the right thing to do. Wow!

During the podcast, Scooter shared some incredible insights:

“I didn’t show people who I was because I didn’t think I was enough.”

“Behind the Anger is Hurt. Behind Hurt is Fear. Behind that? That’s where all the beauty is.”

“I wish everyone could become rich and famous and realize it’s not the key to happiness.” (Quoting Jim Carrey, another spiritual seeker.)

“The greatest achievement of the last two years is reclaiming myself.”

“Doing this work has made me a better parent.”

“Choose to forgive yourself so you can forgive others.”

“Love more.”

What resonates so deeply with me is how Scooter repeatedly emphasizes in the podcast that the most crucial aspect of life is our spiritual journey, our consciousness, and personal growth. Scooter’s retreat showcased the profound truth that money and success aren’t the most important parts of life and don’t necessarily answer the question of, “How can I be happier?”

Arms Wide Open

Instead, being present, conscious, healing your wounded child, becoming a better parent, and living with unconditional love for yourself and others – that’s where the real magic of happiness lies!

I also love that Scooter has now reconciled with his given name of Scott. He loves and embraces Scooter, but he now sees how he had to embrace Scott. As he says in the podcast, “I didn’t trust Scott, deep down he was highly insecure. I love my name again for the first time since I was 7. Scott needs to be in charge again.”

Scooter experienced what we do here with our spiritual retreats – finding, releasing and healing the core wounds, fears and limiting beliefs that are holding you back, bringing you back into connection on all the levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual and then giving you the tools to continue to maintain and deepen that connection.

Healing Session

Scooter openly expressed his previous experiences with plant medicine, such as ayahuasca, as part of his spiritual practices. However, he found the breathwork session during his Soul Adventure to be even more powerful and healing. Our cornerstone breathwork sessions, which I’ve been facilitating since 1989, have had a profound impact on my own life, and it’s incredible to witness the transformation they bring to the people we work with, especially someone like Scooter.

Being happy — yep, that’s the golden ticket we all crave! So, let’s get real here. How to be happy, you ask? How to be happier? How to be happy with yourself? How to get some of that happiness that Scooter (and all the other thousands of people we’ve worked with) have gotten with us? Oh, honey, we got you covered!

Here’s the truth – our spiritual retreats are unlike any other! We specialize in personalized retreats, custom-designed for each incredible individual or couple. No cookie-cutter solutions here – only personalized, soul-enriching experiences.

So, if you’re ready to embark on your own journey to happiness, reach out to our Soul Guides today! We’re here to create a retreat that aligns with your desires, bringing you from where you are to where you want to be.

Discover the Key to Happiness with Sedona Soul Adventures! You don’t have to be a billionaire to do a Soul Adventure or to find happiness.

Robert says, “Before Sedona Soul Adventures, I felt depressed and stuck in a rut…I didn’t like the person I saw in the mirror. After my Soul Adventure, I feel hopeful and optimistic about life! This is the best investment I’ve ever made! You can’t put a price on feeling happy and alive again!”

Robert Alger Sedona Soul Adventure Testimonial

Robert’s experience is so much like so many other people who come to us. They feel depressed and stuck in a rut they can’t get out of. When he says, “I was my own worst critic and didn’t like the person I saw in the mirror,” that just hurt my heart. Because that’s how so many people feel about themselves. They just don’t like themselves, much less love themselves.

He went through our Proven Process and “for the first time in years I feel hopeful and optimistic about life!”

And here’s my favorite part:

Robert Alger Sedona Soul Adventure Testimonial 2

It’s so true – what would you pay to have inner peace and happiness and to feel alive again? Our retreats aren’t inexpensive – we are custom designing each one for exactly what you need and your retreat is 3 or 4 or 5 days of one-one-one (or two-on-one for a Couples Retreat) sessions with the Master Practitioners of Sedona. Many of our clients tell us their Soul Adventure did more for them in 3 days than years of therapy.

As Robert said:

“Just being able to feel happy and alive again is something you just can’t put a price on.”

As I’ve said many times, I believe that it is your birthright to become the best person you can be and live in joy, bliss, and abundance.

If you want to be happy, do what other happy people are doing.
If you want to be successful, do what other successful people are doing.
If you want to be living in abundance, do what other abundant people are doing.

Do what Robert and Scooter did – come here and do a retreat with us (or do it on-line). You don’t have to be a billionaire to come here and do a retreat. But you can access the same incredible healers that other billionaires who have come to us have used to move into even higher levels of happiness, joy, and presence.

Call and speak with one of our Soul Guides. They’ll connect with you (or both of you for a Couples Retreat) and start the process of discovering and releasing the wounds, blocks, and gunk that are holding you back from a totally blissful life or a fabulous, loving relationship. They’ll custom design a retreat that will bring you from where you are to where you want to be.

Call us at (928) 204-5988 or request a call and one of our Soul Guides will call you.

As I always say, if you knew what could happen, you’d be calling right now.

Wishing you a week filled with love and cosmic vibes!

The Connection Between Spiritual Awakening and Mental Health

Woman meditating yoga alone at sunrise mountains

When you go through a spiritual awakening, you find a shift in consciousness that’s difficult to describe, but it can have a major impact on someone’s well-being and view on life in general. It can affect self-awareness, finding a sense of purpose, and connecting beyond your inner being. But how exactly do the stages of spiritual awakenings impact your mental health?

In this blog, we’ll analyze the connection between spiritual awakenings and mental health, and how finding your purpose can lead to stronger mental health and clarity.

Understanding the Spiritual Awakening Journey

You’ve probably heard the term “spiritual awakening.” But what is a spiritual awakening- and how do you know if you’re experiencing it?

A spiritual awakening is a transformation of consciousness that brings about major changes in an individual’s views, values, and overall health. A common catalyst for this profound transformation is when you begin questioning your life’s purpose and begin seeking deeper meaning beyond the material world.

A spiritual awakening is an inner transformation where you transcend your ego-based state of consciousness to experience unity with all things. Spiritual awakening is a process of self-realization that enables people to access their inherent nature, displaying love, kindness, knowledge and tranquility – toward themselves and others.

Understanding the spiritual awakening is easier when you view it as a spiritual journey that progresses in stages. Experts vary in how they define each stage and how they divide the spiritual awakening process. In general, the spiritual awakening stages are:

Stage 1: Disorientation and Confusion

You begin to experience spiritual awakening symptoms, such as questioning your beliefs, values, and life purpose. This increased self-awareness may cause temporary anxiety or depression as you confront previously unexamined aspects of yourself. (Some people refer to this, the more challenging of the spiritual awakening stages, as the “Dark Night of the Soul.”)

Stage 2: Letting Go and Surrendering

As your spiritual enlightenment continues, you learn to surrender control over your life’s outcomes. Learning to trust and embrace the universe’s plan brings profound inner peace – and reduced stress levels and increased emotional resilience.

Stage 3: Releasing Old Patterns and Habits

Spiritual awakening requires releasing negative habits like unhealthy coping mechanisms or limiting beliefs that have held you back from realizing your full potential to date. This spiritual practice can be challenging and emotional, but is essential to experience a true spiritual awakening.

Stage 4: Integration and Expansion

The final stage of spiritual awakening involves integrating the lessons learned from previous stages into your daily life while expanding your consciousness to encompass a broader understanding of reality. During the last of the spiritual awakening stages, people may notice heightened imagination, understanding of others’ feelings, and a general feeling of contentment that can have positive effects on their psychological state.   In this stage you can also identify your true  nature – an excitement to follow your dreams and passions.

Spiritual awakenings can manifest in various forms. Some people experience a sudden and intense awakening, while others go through a gradual process. For some, spiritual awakening is a profound religious experience. For example, followers of Jesus Christ believe that a true spiritual awakening occurs through the power of the Holy Spirit. For others, spiritual awakening is a more physical process, such as occurs with the energetic release of a kundalini awakening.

Understanding the Importance of Mental Wellness

Exploring the relationship between mental health and spiritual awakening is essential for understanding how our overall well being is affected by these powerful transformations. Mental health is one aspect of our overall health and well being, and includes our emotional, psychological, and social well being.

To begin appreciating and understanding the importance of mental wellness, consider all the ways that good mental health impacts our lives. Mental health creates better emotional stability, improved relationships with others, increased self-esteem and confidence, a greater sense of purpose and fulfillment, and an enhanced ability to effectively cope with stressors.

Likewise, poor mental health can impact your life. For instance, you may have trouble concentrating and making decisions, withdraw from social connection, and struggle to regulate your moods.

When your mental health is poor or if you are a person who is highly sensitive to the people and energy around you, you may begin to worry that you have a mental health issue. But often, you’ll find that you simply need to pay more attention to your mental health, prioritizing it as much as you do your physical health. A spiritual awakening can have a surprising impact on mental health, particularly for people who are highly sensitive.

Analyzing the Connection Between Spiritual Awakening and Mental Health

Analyzing the connection between spiritual awakening and mental health means answering the question, “Can a spiritual awakening positively impact mental health?” The answer is yes! A spiritual awakening can open up new possibilities and help you to gain a better understanding of yourself – even without the help of a mental health professional. This increase in self-awareness can lead to improved mental health, by allowing you to recognize the patterns and dynamics that have been holding you back from living your best life.

Individuals who have experienced spiritual awakenings report significant improvements in their overall psychological state following their spiritual awakening and deeper sense of spirituality:

  • An enhanced ability to let go of past traumas resulting from deep healing work during the process of spiritual growth.
  • Increased resilience and adaptability to life’s challenges due to a newfound sense of inner strength and spirituality.
  • A greater capacity for empathy, compassion, and understanding towards others as you recognize the interconnectedness of all beings through your increased sense of spirituality.
  • Increased sense of meaning and purpose, providing a sense of direction and fulfillment, particularly after a spiritual crisis.
  • Enhanced self-awareness, allowing you to better understand your thoughts and emotions and respond to them in healthier ways.
  • Greater sense of connection to yourself, others, and the world around you, which can combat feelings of isolation and loneliness.
  • Reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression (possibly by increasing positive emotions and reducing negative ones).
  • Greater acceptance and love for yourself, which can help overcome feelings of unworthiness.

Fans and students of positive psychology will probably not be surprised, but research has proven that spiritual experiences change activity in the brain – whether you view your experience through the lens of religious beliefs or spirituality.

Mindfulness Practices for Better Mental Health

Mindfulness practices and meditation practices are two powerful and proven ways to facilitate spiritual awakening while improving mental wellness. These techniques encourage self-awareness, emotional regulation, stress reduction, and overall well-being.

This stress release meditation will be a great place to start.

Meditation is a practice that involves training your mind to focus and remain present in the moment. There are many different types of meditation, but most involve finding a quiet, comfortable space to sit or lie down, closing the eyes, and directing the attention to a specific object or sensation, such as the breath or a mantra.

Practicing meditation on a regular basis helps cultivate inner peace, clarity of mind, and increased awareness. If you are new to meditation, this free video will teach you the basics of a good meditation practice. Whether you are new to meditation or are experienced at meditation, you may find that guided meditation, where you’re guided by an instructor, teacher, or recording through the meditation process, is an easy way to build your practice.

A mindfulness practice involves intentionally paying attention to the present moment with curiosity and without judgment. A mindfulness practice requires bringing your awareness to the sensations, thoughts, and emotions that are happening in the moment, without getting caught up in them or trying to change them.

There are many different ways to practice mindfulness, including:

  • Breathing with mindfulness: Paying attention to your breath as it moves in and out of your body, noticing the sensations of each inhale and exhale.
  • Moving with mindfulness: Engaging in slow, intentional movement such as yoga or tai chi, paying attention to the sensations in your body as you move.
  • Eating with mindfulness: Paying close attention to the taste, texture, and smell of the food as you eat it, without distractions such as TV or your phone.
  • Walking with mindfulness: Taking a slow, deliberate walk and paying attention to the sensations in your body as you move.

A powerful way to jumpstart a meditation and/or mindfulness practice,  particularly if you’re interested in meditation and mindfulness practices for better mental health and spiritual awakening, is a personalized spiritual retreat.

“Don’t you DARE settle for fine” – quote from “Ted Lasso”

It’s the end of an era. The finale of “Ted Lasso” has just aired. Have you been watching it? I have to say it’s one of the best shows I’ve ever watched, because it is so funny, so sweet, and so uplifting (although it does also have lots of F-bombs, so it’s good to know that in advance!).

Ted Lasso

Now, I must confess that when I first heard about the premise—an American football coach taking charge of a premier soccer league in England—I was a bit skeptical.

I mean, why should I care, right? But oh boy, was I in for a delightful surprise!

With each episode, “Ted Lasso” managed to win our hearts…

The show’s charm, sweetness, and uplifting spirit left us wanting more. We’ve happily binged the entire first and second seasons twice and eagerly savored every moment of the third season, including that epic finale.

It’s so adorable, very often I will come into Richard’s office and if he’s on his laptop laughing or smiling, I know he’s watching a snippet of Ted Lasso. He’ll do that as much as once or twice a day because it’s just so inspiring and makes him feel so good.

In the second season there was a scene that struck me so deeply that I wanted to pass it along to you.

Rebecca Welton

One of the main characters is a woman that I absolutely love, Rebecca, the owner of the soccer club which hires Ted. The series begins with her soon-to-be ex-husband (the co-owner of the team) having dumped her for a much younger woman. She’s scorned and depressed and is humiliated in the press. She starts out the series with some really negative aspects (which I won’t spoil for you) and during the course of the series we watch her as she navigates being a single woman who is “out there” dating again.

But here’s where it gets interesting—another character (Roy Kent) asks her how her new relationship is going and she says “Fine.”

He then steps in and delivers a powerful line that I can’t resist sharing with you.

Brace yourself for this gem:

“Don’t you dare settle for fine.”

And that’s not all, he follows it up with:

“You should feel like you’ve been struck by lightning.”

Boom! Mic drop!

Jumping for joy on a hillside

These words hit me right in the soul. Because let’s face it, life is about choices. We can either settle and let joy, excitement, and bliss slip through our fingers, or we can embrace the thrill, the electrifying moments that make us feel alive!

So, let me ask you this: What does your life look like? Are there areas where you’re settling? And are you genuinely excited about the various aspects of your existence? These questions are worth pondering.

Look at the major areas of your life:

Work – Are you doing work you love? Does it align with your life purpose? Do you wake up each morning feeling energized and inspired?

Love Relationship – Are you experiencing a connection that makes you feel like you’ve been struck by lightning? Have you settled for less in any of your past or present relationships?

Friends & Family Relationships – Do you surround yourself with people who uplift and inspire you? Are your relationships harmonious and fulfilling, or do they drain your energy?

Health – How do you feel in your body? Are you taking care of yourself physically and emotionally? Do you love and appreciate your body? Or do you constantly wish it was different?

Money and Abundance – Do you feel abundant? Or do you constantly worry about money and not having enough?

By exploring these areas, we gain insights into what truly matters to us and uncover the areas where we may have settled for less. Remember, life is too short to settle for anything less than what you deserve.

Young people in nature at sunset

With all the parts of our lives, we’re either living in connection or not. And all the parts of our lives add up to the sum total of our existence.

So if the total sum of your existence isn’t operating most of the time in happiness, joy, peace, abundance, and excitement, you need to do something about it.

First of all, I highly recommend watching “Ted Lasso” (even with the F-bombs) or something else that makes you feel happy and uplifted.

But typically watching a TV show doesn’t get underneath the real issues that are holding you back in life or causing trouble in your relationships. That’s where we come in. If you don’t know your life purpose (or even worse, if you know what it is, but you’re not living it) — we can help you with that. If the sizzle has gone out of your relationship — we can help you with that.

If you want to come back into the joy and happiness that I believe are your birthright, do a Soul Adventure. We’ll find what’s holding you back or causing the trouble, we’ll release it, heal it, and bring you back into connection.

Cancer Linked to Unexpressed Anger (7 Different Studies)

My mother died of cancer at the age of 51. She passed away over 30 years ago and I still miss her everyday.

This week I read about 7 different studies that all come to the conclusion that (in the words of the report) “unexpressed anger causes cancer.”

I’ve always felt that the circumstances of my mother’s life and the pain it caused her are what actually caused her cancer. In the past, people would tell me that was just my New Age weirdo mentality, and not based in any kind of reality.

It’s heartbreaking to now have the validation from studies from Stanford University, Harvard School of Public Health, University of Rochester, King’s College in London, University of Michigan, University of Rochester, University of Tennessee, and the National Institutes of Health.

My father had an affair with another woman that went on for over 13 years before my mother’s death. My mother acted like she didn’t know that it was happening. This woman worked for my father and, bizarrely, was always referred to as our “good family friend.” If you can believe it, she even spent time with our family during holidays, including Christmas. My father married her 9 months after my mother died.

Although my mother always acted as if this wasn’t happening, I found out by accident 2 months after her death, that she not only did know, but that it (of course) shattered her. I had lunch with my aunt (her sister) who was a Catholic nun and had helped care for my mother during the last weeks of her life. My aunt started talking to me about it, assuming that I knew. I was so dumbfounded that I could barely speak, as my aunt went on to talk about how this had completely destroyed my mother.

As I looked back over those years, I saw the pattern emerge. My father started a new business in another town when I was 13. None of us wanted to move, but the business was a big success at first. My father moved in June, the family didn’t come until September when school started, because we wanted to stay in our old town just as long as we could. I found out later that this is when the affair started, when my dad was on his own in the new town.

In his feelings of guilt, my father started drinking heavily and within about one year, his business was in financial trouble. I can’t even imagine what my mother must have been going through with the combination of the affair, my father’s alcoholism, and now financial trouble. And worse, she kept “acting as if” everything was okay.

There’s a day I talk about in my book (“The Journey To Happy”) that was really what I see now as the watershed moment when I knew something was very wrong with my family. I had already felt on an emotional level that something was going on. There was a lot of tension between my mom and dad and my dad was constantly throwing up in the morning (from drinking). Mother would say, “Dad isn’t feeling well,” but I realized he wasn’t going to the doctor or doing anything to fix the problem.

I was 13 years old and it was summertime so we were just carefree and playing. Mom had gone down to my dad’s business and came home with him and locked us out of the house. We lived in a small town in Iowa and we never locked our door ever, not even when we would go to church, so this was completely unusual. I found out later that mother discovered the business was not open, my dad was drunk, and she found a pile of unpaid bills.

From that time on, everything changed. We had been a happy and successful family — we had a nice house in a great neighborhood, my father had a business that had been very successful, all of us kids did great in school, we were active in sports and dance, we belonged to the country club, and on the outside, it looked like we had it all. Suddenly, it felt like everything was in jeopardy and that never changed. All through high school and until I left for college, I lived in a home where everyone was walking on egg shells, my mother was in constant worry about money trouble and the prevailing energy was fear and frustration.

My mother lived through all of this and somehow putting up with my father having a relationship with another woman and acting as if it wasn’t happening and never talking to anyone about it (she only spoke about it at the very end to my aunt). All those years of it festering inside her, with her doing nothing about it and not even allowing herself to talk about it.

So a few years later, after all this anger, frustration, and fear had festered inside her, my mother was diagnosed with cancer of the cervix. She had an 11-hour operation where they removed everything they could and she then had a colostomy bag and a urostomy bag (for urine).

About 6 months after the operation, mother was doing surprisingly well. The doctors were giving her a clean bill of health. It looked like everything was fine. Then they found more.

I found out after her death that dad had come back and stopped the affair when she had the operation. After it looked like she was going to be okay again, he resumed the affair and my mother got sick again. Then he came back again and she got well again. He left again and she got sick again. This went on back and forth for 5 years.

By that time her children were handled – 2 of my brothers had graduated from college and had great jobs, one brother had just established his dental practice and my youngest brother was almost finished with medical school. I was in law school and my sister was about to graduate from college. My mother’s constant mantra as we were growing up was that we were all going to college. Once she felt like we were all taken care of, she could give herself permission to leave.

There isn’t any question in my mind about what caused my mother’s cancer. She drank coffee and ate red meat, but I don’t think any of those factors had anything to do with it. She was hurt and angry from the deep pain that resulted from all this and she was so focused on taking care of all of us that she placed no focus on herself. She told herself that there was nothing that she could do. And the worst part was, she believed that. She felt angry and stuck and that festered inside her for years until it showed up as cancer.

She had told me many years before when she was upset with my father that she could never divorce him. She was a strict Catholic, plus the financial realities would have been so difficult. So instead, I believe she left in the one way that she felt she could.

I wish I could have done something to have helped my mother. It makes me so sad that she felt like she couldn’t talk to me about what was really going on.

I became a family law attorney one year after her death. I know that in the 20 years that I was doing divorce work, I helped a lot of women who felt stuck and powerless and I saw many of them go on to lead really happy lives.

After I had practiced law for 20 years, I realized that I had become stuck in my own life and I was feeling angry and frustrated. I came to Sedona for the first time and the message that I was given in a vision was, “You either leave your law practice now, or you’re going to die like your mother did.” That was the wake up call I needed. That was 24 years ago.

My Wacky Workout, 1,000 Pound Leg Presses = Big Life Lesson

I have the craziest workout. I do it every 10 days and I can finish it in about 25 minutes! People are always stunned to discover that:

I can leg press 1,000 pounds!

I can dead lift 380 pounds!

My lat pull downs (pictured here) are 260 pounds!

Now here’s the real kicker – When I started (13 years ago!) I could only dead lift 110 pounds… now it’s 3 times that. My leg presses were only at 320 pounds and I could only do 90 pounds on the lat pull down.

Nobody is more surprised than me that this is what’s happened. And believe me, this isn’t about me being a weight lifting superstar, I’m certainly not. I only hold the lifts for 5 seconds, because the science has shown that’s all it takes. I don’t have giant muscles in my arms (I don’t want that) – if anything, I wish my arms were smaller!

So here’s the deal with this and why I’m talking to you about it. First of all, this is a special program I found out about 14 years ago. The idea is to build lean muscle mass and it’s based on very current science that says the best way to do that is to take the muscle to failure and then let the muscles completely recover, which takes a full 10 days. So every 10 days I do this weight training and the goal is to increase it by 5 pounds each time.

This week I realized I’ve done this now for exactly 13 years and as I looked back at where I started, I was struck by the fact that what this is REALLY about is:

  • Getting Started
  • Learning what to do
  • Doing a little bit, but doing it consistently
  • Never stopping

And I realized that this is such a metaphor for life and it’s certainly the same thing for people who come to us to do a Soul Adventure.

Getting started is so hard. It’s so silly, I actually had the information about this program for over one year (!) before I did anything with it. I had seen something online and ordered the information (I think it cost $27!). But it seemed like it would be so hard and so boring to move all those weights around, and I was actually a little afraid to try to move all that weight around by myself. I had done standard 3-times per week workouts with a trainer, but I was embarrassed to ask him about it… I was concerned he would be offended by a workout you do only every 10 days. When I finally called him (one year later), he suggested I bring in the information. He read it and said he thought it was brilliant. He said he would help me get started and then if I wanted to, I could do it on my own.

The next part was learning what to do. When I started, it wasn’t so critically important that I do the lifts perfectly, but I could tell that if I wanted to do heavier weights down the road, I had to do it right so that I wouldn’t hurt myself. My trainer is such an excellent trainer with incredible credentials and he taught me perfectly. And it was so effective, I wanted to keep on working out with him. Learning what to do from someone who knows their stuff makes all the difference.

But I know the biggest thing here is the consistency. Unless I’m out of town, I never miss my session, and I mean never. I always go, I never tell myself, “Oh I don’t feel like doing it today,” even though there are definitely days when I don’t feel like doing it and days where I’m so incredibly busy that I’m telling myself I shouldn’t take the time. But I go because I know if I don’t do it now, it’s going to be a little harder to do it next time. Plus, I’ve seen the incredible results from doing a little bit, but doing it consistently. I just have to do a little bit. I just need to increase by 5 pounds, I just need to hold the lift for 5 seconds. Just by doing that little bit over and over again, I’ve tripled what I was able to do before.

And I know that this is keeping me healthy, making me feel good in my body and helping to maintain my weight. It helps me feel strong.

And that’s just what it takes in every part of our lives, especially our spiritual life. Just doing a little bit, but doing the right things and doing it over and over and over can give us tremendous benefits. Doing a little bit of meditation each day, even 9 minutes can make a huge difference! Being just a little kinder to everyone you meet can make the difference between a good day or a bad day. Just being a little kinder to yourself can give you enormous benefits.

And, of course, it’s exactly the same thing with doing a Sedona Soul Adventure. For everyone, Getting Started is the biggest hurdle. I’ve said to so many of our people that 90% of this is just about showing up — getting here and getting started. We’ve had people who have waited 2, 3, 5, even 10 years from the time they first felt the nudge that they should do this. As with anything in life, getting started is the hardest part.

And then you need to be learning what to do. Working with our incredible practitioners, having someone who really knows what they’re doing, urging you on, helping you, holding you to a higher standard than you might even be holding yourself, can make all the difference when you’re trying to change something. When you come here, not only are we clearing out all the blocks and the gunk that’s holding you back, we’re bringing you back into connection and giving you tools to maintain and deepen that connection. You learn how to do it and you take it home with you.

And then it’s all about just doing a little bit, but doing it consistently. The last session that everyone does as part of their retreat is called Intuitive Integration. In that session, we review what’s happened during the retreat and then we talk about how you can best integrate this into your day to day life: What are the things that you can do that will fit into your life and that will maintain and deepen the connection and peace that you found here?

We put together an action plan for you, making sure that it’s doable, practical and effective. Plus all the ongoing support we provide makes sure that the transformations last. Just doing a little bit can keep you feeling centered, balanced, peaceful and strong.

So are you ready to get started? Getting started with us is not hard, it’s very, very easy, just contact us. We’re here for you. Click below:

Lois says her Soul Adventure took her “from a dark, hopeless existence to a joyful, abundant and grateful life”

Prior to my Soul Adventure, I had been struggling with depression, weight gain, addiction, smoking and anxiety for months. I had tried medication and therapy and neither of those worked, in fact the medications only made things worse; more weight gain, less energy and sluggish thoughts. Then my husband found Sedona Soul Adventures, how, I still don’t know, but I am so thankful! I called them the following day to learn more about their services and immediately knew this was for me. We left the following day on an 8 hour road trip to Sedona.

During the adventure, I could already feel blockages opening up and hope coming back into my mind. I was in such a sad and lonely place prior that I immediately felt changes occurring. It was so exciting learning new techniques and tools to help manage my moods. Each night I felt like I was just bursting with information and excitement with the ideas and perspective I was gaining.

After completion of the adventure, I went home and immediately put my new techniques into practice. Within a month, I effortlessly lost 9 pounds and started working out again as soon as we arrived back home. In the past, I didn’t even have enough energy to walk around the block. I ate better and made conscious decisions to remove negativity and old behaviors that no longer served me. I have taken a proactive approach towards my attitude, protecting it from negativity and situations that provoke anger and irritability. However, those situations and emotions are not always avoidable and I have learned to cope better in those cases. I live in the moment now and am able to see immediately when my emotions are turning and take responsibility for my wellbeing by either meditating or just sitting with the feeling and trying to figure out why I am experiencing them. In the past I would reach for anything to change that feeling, including alcohol, prescription drugs, or smoking. Soul Adventures provided me with healthy, positive tools to combat negative feelings. I am proud to say that I am 100% chemical free, no medications, no smoking and I am even eating organically! By living in the present, I can step back and be objective about a situation verses viewing everything subjectively and as a victim. I now see myself as the creator of my destiny, able to manifest pure joy and happiness, whatever I desire.

I was hopeful and optimistic about Soul Adventures, but I had no idea that in less than a month my life would go from a dark hopeless existence to a joyful, abundant and grateful life. Thank you Soul Adventures!
~ Lois R., Buena Park, California

“Therapy, workshops, treatment center” didn’t work, but her Soul Adventure did!

I was so touched by what Jill said in her review about her Sedona Soul Adventures retreat, especially when she said:

“It worked!”

I called her. We had such a great conversation, especially with her telling me that in all her years of searching (“therapy, retreats, workshops and a treatment center”) that she had never really had a real breakthrough — until she did her Sedona Soul Adventure.

Here are her words:

Again, the best words are: “It worked.”

She came to us feeling depression and long-time anxiety.

We utilized our Sedona Proven Process, which just keeps proving over and over again that it works!

  • Her Soul Guide connected with her on a deep level.
  • From that deep connection, he crafted a retreat that was completely custom designed for exactly what she needed.
  • Our amazing Practitioners worked to uncover, heal and release the wounds that were holding her back.
  • She was brought back into connection on all the levels – physical, mental and emotional.
  • She received “valuable tools, practices, and learnings helping to continue my transformation.”
  • She left transformed, feeling “relaxed, calm, happy and fulfilled.”
  • She’s receiving ongoing support: “I am grateful and love them for the wise words, kind ears, and magical hands they shared throughout and after my journey. after each session as well as when I returned home.”

And then she said my second favorite statement – “I am enough!”

Isn’t that glorious? After years of anxiety and depression, to have that feeling all the way down to your bones of “I am enough!”

I don’t think it gets any better than that, that delicious feeling of wholeness.

Would you love to have that feeling of wholeness, that feeling of “I am enough!”? It is truly that feeling which brings you the peace and contentment you’re looking for.

Is Your Relationship Killing You?

Wow, can you believe that relationships are a bigger factor for what can make you sick than:

  • Diet?
  • Exercise?
  • Smoking?

Dr. Ornish has also said:

Studies have shown that those who do not have a healthy relationship have a 3 – 5 times higher risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke, alcoholism and suicide than those who are in happy, nurturing relationships that make them feel loved and supported.

I was thinking just yesterday that I’ve been fascinated with relationships and what makes them work (or not) ever since I was a little kid. My mother subscribed to the “Ladies Home Journal” Magazine and they had a column each month entitled, “Can This Marriage Be Saved?”, which I devoured. Each month the woman would give her side of the story then the man would give his side of the story and then the marriage counselor would make his pronouncement of whether or not the marriage could be “saved.”

After that I became a divorce attorney for 20 years. Amazingly, during that 20-year period, I had some clients for whom I did 3 divorces. I could always see that each time they had married virtually the same person, they just had a different name. They kept making the same mistakes over and over again, never learning from their mistakes.

They never learned how to do relationships right.

Then my life changed when I came to Sedona for the first time and over the next few years I saw how lives and relationships could be transformed when people came back into connection. Back into connection with themselves, back into connection with their partner and the two of them coming back into connection with this third entity, which is the relationship.

If your relationship is making you feel angry, unhappy, depressed, hopeless, or stuck, you might be on the path to bigger problems down the road, as Dr. Ornish believes. You’ve got to do something. The good news is, there’s help.

Wouldn’t you just love to feel like you’re on fire in your relationship? Wouldn’t you love to have your needs met? Wouldn’t you love to see the endless possibilities?

Give us a call. We’ll connect with both of you in a deep way and we’ll start the process of bringing you out of where you are and into the relationship of your dreams.

You can’t pour from an empty cup; the vicious cycle of not taking care of yourself

It’s so interesting to me, because we seem to have waves of people with the same kind of problems contacting us at the same time about doing a retreat. We’ll have a few weeks of getting nothing but couples who have suffered infidelity and then we’ll have a few weeks of people who have deep issues with not loving themselves, it’s so fascinating how it seems to happen in waves.

Right now the issue that seems to be coming up the most is people who do, do, do for everyone else and can’t give themselves permission to do things to take care of themselves.

They contact us about doing a retreat, they know they need to do something to change their pattern and then when it gets down to making the decision, they just simply cannot give themselves permission to spend the time or the money, but what it really comes down to, they can’t give themselves permission to do something for themselves.

And it’s really frightening to me, because some of these people are actually — quite literally — killing themselves.

They are overworked, overwhelmed and at the end of their rope. And even though they know that they’re killing themselves, they can’t let go of the pattern.

I recognize the pattern because that’s what I was doing to myself over 20 years ago before I came to Sedona.

We had one person who contacted us for the first time over 5 years ago and decided to not do the retreat. Last week she called and said “I finally have to do something.” She’s now much, much worse than she was 5 years ago, her health is suffering, her husband has left her (even after all her caretaking) and she’s so completely burned out at work that she could barely function. She realized “I have to come right now!” and that’s what she did.

This is the vicious cycle I’m talking about that happens when we don’t take care of ourselves. Things just get worse.

We think we’re helping the people around us, but we’re not. We have the thought, “I need to do something to change this” and we might even look into doing something, but then we won’t give ourselves permission to do it, telling ourselves we have to take care of everyone else.

But all that happens is that the problems just get deeper, the resentments get deeper and then the stress starts showing up in health problems, marital strife and just feeling awful most of the time. It just keeps going around and around.

Luckily, her Soul Adventure got at the underlying issues that were causing all this (especially around her belief that she has to do things for people in order for them to love her, which was all tangled up in her trying to please her father) and she really came back into connection.

I swear she looked twenty years younger when she came into the office at the end of her retreat to say goodbye and thank us. But the best part is that she feels in a completely different space than when she came, she knows that a fundamental shift and change has happened, she knows her life has changed and is going to continue to live the change.

And that’s the key — to do something about this, you actually have to do something to make a change. Something like a vacation doesn’t do it. I used to take vacations to try to relieve my stress and unhappiness and I would have a week of feeling a little better, but then I would come back to the same old stuff and the same old me.

It always reminds me of what they tell you when you fly. If the cabin pressure drops and you’re traveling with a child or an infirm person, put your air mask on first and THEN help them put on their mask.

The reasoning is very simple. The sooner you take care of yourself, the more you’re increasing your chances that you’re going to be able to help the other person.

In the time it takes to try to put the mask on the child (who may be kicking and screaming), air pressure in the cabin can drop so low that you’re not in a position to be able to help anyone, let alone your child.

Taking care of yourself first means you’re better able to take care of others.

So I was thinking about all this and out of nowhere I suddenly saw this image online.

What a perfect synchronicity!

I call it God winking at me – telling me I’m on the right track thinking and writing about this.

Are you feeling empty?
Are you running on fumes?
Do you know that you need to be doing something to take care of yourself, but you keep putting it off?

Stop! You aren’t doing anyone any favors (least of all yourself) by not doing something to take care of yourself.

Please contact us. I promise you there is something underneath this issue, something that goes deeper than not just taking care of yourself. Speak with one of our Soul Guides and they’ll get to the root of the issue that’s holding you back from living a life of joy and ease.

Kris says that after learning “the importance of taking care of me, I am truly happy for the first time in more than 40 years”

“I was truly blessed to have this Soul Adventure, and now that I am back at home the benefits of my experience have become obvious to all of those around me. I am truly happy for the first time in more than 40 years of living life! I had always been there to make sure everyone else was happy, and now I have learned that I can be there for others without denying myself. I love myself! I have learned the importance of taking care of me! I am now touching the lives of others in a most positive way. Friends and family both, have expressed a deep interest in my experiences. I feel loved!”
